What is the Week Without Driving?

What is the Week Without Driving?

From Monday 6 October to Sunday 12 October 2025, people across Queensland will participate in a week without a car. If your schedule doesn’t allow a week, do what you can. This is not a stunt. It is a real-world test of the transport system as it stands today.

Some people do not drive because of disability. Others because of age. Some because transport costs too much. Many because there is no safe, practical way to get where they need to go. This is a chance to see what works, what does not, and what needs to change.

Who should take part?

  • Decision makers responsible for transport funding, policy and strategy, including politicians at local, state and federal levels

  • People working in transport design, planning, engineering as well as senior directors in government departments

  • Anyone who already struggles to get around without a car

  • Those who care about making Queensland’s transport system better for everyone

How can you take part?
You have two options:

  1. Go a week without driving (or just an afternoon or day if you can’t adjust your schedule)

    • Walk, cycle, or use public transport for everything

    • Plan routes in advance and adjust as needed

    • Experience firsthand what works and what does not

  2. Fix your street with SnapSendSolve

    • Find and report real transport issues in your area

    • Choose from specific focus areas: accessibility, footpaths, bike lanes, public transport, or general safety

    • Submit photos and descriptions of problems via SnapSendSolve.

You can do one or both. Either way, you will gain a deeper understanding of the transport landscape in Queensland.

Why does this matter?
Transport is not just about roads. It is about whether people can get to work, school, medical care, or the shops. It is about whether someone can participate in their community or is shut out. When transport works well, life runs smoothly. When it does not, people are left stranded.

How to get started
Register below. Choose whether to take on the Week Without Driving, SnapSendSolve, or both. Plan how you will get around. Check public transport routes. Look at walking paths. See if cycling is an option. Organise a carpool if needed.

What will you learn?

  • How easy or difficult it is to get where you need to go without driving

  • What gaps exist in footpaths, bike lanes, and public transport

  • How different choices affect your daily routine

Sharing your experience

  • Post updates on social media using #WWDau25

  • Tag @WWDau25 on Facebook and LinkedIn

  • Create a short video about your experience. Show what worked, what failed, and what you discovered along the way. Your insights will help build momentum for better transport options.

Get others involved

  • Encourage colleagues, friends, and family to join

  • Form a group and compare experiences

  • See who finds the biggest gaps or the smartest solutions

What happens next?
Your experiences will be shared with councils, state government, and transport planners. The results will inform policy, funding, and future transport projects. This is your chance to see the reality of transport in Queensland and be part of making it better.

If you're interested in what we do, we could do with your support

Get Around Caboolture is a community movement advocating for more travel options for people in
Caboolture & Morayfield.

Our Goals

1. All children can ride to school on safe streets

2. All young adults can get to work or study without needing a car so they begin adulthood without a debt of $15,000 a year.

A lack of transport options leads to a high financial burden for
families, businesses and governments.

The only way we can be sustainable for the long term is with your help.
