Here is an image showing public transport access in Sunshine Coast, created by UniSC student, Louise Mikkelsen. Public Transport Accessibility Levels (PTAL) measure how well locations are connected to public transport services, with scores ranging from 0 (very poor access) to 6b (excellent access). This PTAL analysis for the Sunshine Coast region reveals that only 13% of suburbs in the Sunshine Coast have good transit access.

In this People and Projects episode of the Streets and People podcast, Wendy hosts Professor Lynette Cheah, a sustainable transport expert from the University of the Sunshine Coast. They discuss Lynette’s research, which includes efficient and sustainable mobility, urban freight transport, and the environmental impact of electric vehicles, as well as current opportunities for PhD students.

A lack of transport options leads to a high financial burden for
families, businesses and governments.
