S1E29 RR360 Bike rules Turning s27to132 Emergency vehicles s78to79 Trams s76to164 Final bike rules episode

On today’s podcast, John Burrill, former Transport & Main Roads road rules subject matter expert and Wendy Nash, founder of Get Around Cabo Carfree discuss Qld’s bike riding rules 1 by 1 as listed on the Qld government bike fines page. We hope you will learn about the road rules for bikes.

You’re welcome to send us your question about Qld road rules for bikes, pedestrians, wheelchairs and scooters.

In this episode we include a broader discussion about the legislation for people outside cars and how daft many of the road rules are for bikes because the legislation is for cars and retrofitted to bikes. Today we’re discussing turning, emergency vehicles and trams. It’s the final bike road rule episode where we discuss the legislation.

Road Rules 360 (RR360) cohosted with John Burrill, former TMR subject matter expert for Qld’s road rules. We discuss the road rules for people riding a bike, walking, in a wheelchair or on a scooter or other personal mobility device (PMD).

Not Everyone Drives (NED) are conversations with people who don’t drive for any reason. They may have a disability, be on medication, strapped for cash, too young, too old, unlicensed, they had a collision or want to do something else than drive everywhere. This one’s for policymakers to understand the implications for their decisions.

People & Projects (P&P) are for transport advocates and people who are curious to hear what’s happening globally and locally. These are interviews with academics, advocates and community group leaders.

Please bear with us as we get the hang of podcasting.

The Streets and People Podcast

Every day in Caboolture and Morayfield, people get left behind because they can’t drive. Some are too young. Some are older. Others live with disability or manage on a low income. You probably know 1 or 2 people in that situation.

We keep asking the same question: Why do cars get the red carpet while everyone else gets the gravel?

Get Around Caboolture is a local movement focused on practical transport solutions that work for more people. Through real stories and expert insights, our podcast highlights what’s missing – and what’s possible.

Our podcast series:

People & Projects (PnP): Interviews with researchers, advocates, and professionals working on transport solutions across Australia.

Not Everyone Drives (NED): Conversations with locals who don’t drive, sharing how transport access, or the lack of it, shapes their everyday lives.

Road Rules 360 (RR360)
Co-hosted with John Burrill, this series looks at road rules from all angles, with a focus on people walking, riding, scooting, or using mobility aids.

If you're interested in what we do, we could do with your support

Get Around Caboolture is a community movement advocating for more travel options for people in
Caboolture & Morayfield.

Our Goals

1. All children can ride to school on safe streets

2. All young adults can get to work or study without needing a car so they begin adulthood without a debt of $15,000 a year.

A lack of transport options leads to a high financial burden for
families, businesses and governments.

The only way we can be sustainable for the long term is with your help.
